Sheen guide
Choose the right finish
The finish decides how a color reads and how long it survives your household.
Matte
Walls and ceilings in calm rooms
Deep color with low glare that hides wall imperfections. It marks more easily, so keep it away from high-traffic hallways.
Eggshell
Living rooms and bedrooms
The everyday default. A whisper of sheen, wipeable enough for real life, and forgiving on less-than-perfect plaster.
Satin
Kitchens, bathrooms, hallways
Stands up to steam, splashes, and scrubbing. The extra sheen highlights wall flaws, so prep matters more here.
Semi-gloss
Trim, doors, and cabinets
Durable and crisp. The contrast between semi-gloss trim and matte walls is what makes a paint job look professional.
Gloss
Front doors and statement trim
Almost lacquer. Demands flawless prep and rewards it, one glossy front door does more than a whole repainted facade.
Undertones and light
The same paint is a different color in your room
Every paint has an undertone that only shows at wall scale, and light changes how it reads. The visualizer uses a photo of your actual room for that reason.
North-facing rooms
North light is cool and steady, so it pushes every color toward gray and blue. Warm undertones, creams, greiges, and earth tones, hold their own here; cool grays can turn flat and cold.
South-facing rooms
Generous warm light makes colors read lighter and yellower than the swatch. Cooler colors often balance the room, while pale tones can wash out.
Evening and artificial light
Warm bulbs around 2700K amplify yellows and deepen darks. A color you only see at night, in a dining room or bedroom, should be chosen at night. Preview with a photo taken then.
Why visualize
Sample pots lie about scale
Test several colors at once
Preview your shortlist on the full wall before buying sample pots.
Buy fewer samples
Use the visualizer to narrow the list, then confirm the winner with one real sample.
The whole room, not a square
A small swatch cannot show how color changes across walls, ceiling, floor, and furniture.
Room by room
Where to point the roller first
Living room
The biggest paint decision in the house. Test greige against sage at full wall scale before committing.
Kitchen
Cabinet color is a paint decision too. Preview two-tone cabinets before the sprayer arrives.
Bathroom
Small room, brave color. See deep green or navy against your existing tile first.
Garden
Fences, sheds, and the front door. Exterior paint is the fastest curb-appeal win there is.
Bedroom
Try the moody headboard wall in the one room where color affects how you sleep.
Home office
The wall behind your chair is on camera every day. Choose its color like it matters.
Dining room
The room that earns a dramatic dark. Preview near-black in evening light before you commit.

Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the colors on my screen?
Close enough to shortlist with confidence, not a substitute for one final check. Screens vary in calibration, so treat the visualizer as the tool that narrows nine candidates to one, then confirm that one with a single sample pot on the wall.
Can I match a specific paint brand color?
Yes. The visualizer includes the full color catalogs from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, PPG, Dunn-Edwards, and Farrow & Ball. Search by name or code, like Alabaster or SW 7008, pick it, and the AI renders your walls in that exact shade.
Which paint brands are included?
Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, PPG, Dunn-Edwards, and Farrow & Ball, each with its official color names and codes. You can also enter any custom color by name or hex value.
Does it only do walls, or trim and cabinets too?
Walls, accent walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and kitchen cabinets. Cabinet repaints are one of the most popular uses, since they are the priciest mistake to make in real paint.
Does it work for exterior paint?
Yes. Upload a photo of your facade, fence, or front door and preview exterior colors in your actual daylight, against your actual roof and landscaping.
Is the lighting in the preview realistic?
The AI repaints the surfaces while keeping your photo's real light, shadows, and reflections. That is the point: the same color photographed in your north-facing room and a showroom will never match, so the preview uses yours.
